M152-Variety
[M152]
$6.00

I have a selection of smaller handcarved masks from 2" to 6" tall from the central highlands of West Timor. Many have been 'coloured' black and the woods used vary from red cedarwood to teak and eucalyptus. There is quite a variety even amongst those from the same carver.

There are sufficent quantities to be able to supply a boutique or gallery that is looking for authentic traditional handcraft and understands that no two are the same. Prices vary from $3 to $12. Wholesale prices apply for purchases of over 20.

Please contact us and we will send you images to select from.

Weight and freight upon ordering.

Handcarved using the simplest of tools from wood, bone, coral and coconut Timorese masks fall into 3 main categories. Those made with paddle handles that are used to 'hide' ones face when raiding a neighbour in times of hunger. Those made to be placed inside the hut above the front entrance that repel anyone with evil intent and allow people of good intent to pass through the doorway and also used by Atoni men to 'put on a face' when dancing.

As a fellow field collector says "and then there are those that find you".

Please email us for freight cost to your destination.

All items have been treated to AQIS standards.
