KAL AU/Lime Powder container Bone Animist

This is a beautiful example of the skill of the Timorese Lime Powder/kal au container maker. 

In this lime powder container the creator has constructed a head with pot on top that acts as the plug and a teak wooden base. The bone is using the left overs of last night dinner of Goat or Cow. These items are used by everyday Timorese people and made in 2 specialist carving villages by BONE CARVERS

The motif, that has been skillfully worked into this most difficult of mediums, is a modern example of the Timorese crocodile motif that tells of the carvers clan and totemic guardian spirits.
