An excellent and rare example of Old Timorese IKAT Betel Nut Bag. This beautifully preserved ALUK has birds and kaif motif work. There are indigenous repairs.
It has 3 pouches which is very unusual in Timorese ALUK. C1950. Aquired in Timor in 2009 from the elderly gentleman who used it all that time.
There are 3 handcarved wooden toggle statues one of which is wearing an ikat selimut or mans traditional dress and another toggle that has some pig tail hairs in it.
Because of the diameter of this treasure it must be sent as a parcel. You can put 2 or 3 items of similar weights into one parcel to maximize shipping.
