An excellent and rare example of Old Timorese IKAT Betel Nut Bag. This beautifully preserved ALUK has birds and kaif motif work. There are indigenous repairs.

It has 3 pouches which is very unusual in Timorese ALUK.

There are 3 handcarved wooden toggle statues one of which is wearing an ikat selimut or mans traditional dress and another toggle that has some pig tail hairs in it.

C1950. Aquired in Timor in 2009 from the elderly gentleman who has used it all this time.

Because of the charms attached to this treasure it must travel as a packet. You are welcome to combine other items in the parcel.
