Ikat Pinggang/saluf literally means to tie the kidneys. And thats just what these sashes are used for, to hold up the mans selimut/blanket.The sashes are handwoven on a simple backstrap loom and have varying amounts of buna/embroider thread worked into the ends and occassionally beads or kelim wrap on the fringes. For a while there salufs were few and far between but they seem to be enjoying a revival and as a result I have a number to offer this year.
