For the first time in 18 years of field collecting I succumbed and purchased a couple of sets of the implements used by the Weaving Women of West Timor. The seasons heavy rain had wiped out the crops and I was offered a lot of items that would not normally be sold...or that I would usually seek.
This fantastic set has all the 'working parts' beaters, heedles, shuttles etc and complimented with a backstrap that has been created from hand tanned leather with a patina from years of use that has been stitched using handrolled string and held by well worn bamboo stakes.
I do have handcarved wooden Cotton Gins and spindles to complete the entire workings. Please just ask.
The back strap is 96cm / 38" in length.
The longest wooden piece is 44cm / 17.5"
